Stop Breaking Self-Promises

Most people know that when they commit to something that they are supposed to keep these promises that they make. More than likely, you will make sure to go out of your way to make sure that you don’t break a promise or let that person down. But, what about your own promises? If you set goals for yourself or you promise yourself something, why do you let these things go whenever things are busy or hard?

Breaking Your Own Promises

You will often make yourself promises and you will often stop doing them because things get busy or hard. Maybe you made the promise to go for a run each day and then once you get up, you don’t feel like doing it anymore.

Think about a time when you had stood up for someone that other people were mean to. This person was being picked on or bothered and you stopped it by standing up for them.

Now think about a time when you had plans or promises from someone and they broke them? This left you feeling disappointed or sad.

Rather you deal with emotions because of a broken promise, you cannot deny how this feel. But what about when you break a promise to yourself? You will likely see yourself as not being very important or worthy of what you say. You will start goals and make commitments, but you decide that these things are optional.

People often believe that they don’t line up to their beliefs and that their thoughts do not fit their actions. You might be telling yourself that your promises don’t matter but this is not true.

Keeping Your Own Promises

It is important that you keep your own promises. You will benefit from doing the things that you promise yourself that you will do. Not all promises that we make are going to be fun or exciting, but you need these promises, and you would benefit from them if you would just do them.

Keeping your own promises will boost your confidence and will show you how much you care about yourself. It shows that you are worthy and that you are strong in your confidence. This can give you power to be stronger and make you happier.

When you take care of yourself, you are more able to care for others. You are able to live your life and to reach your goals and you do not have to worry about other people to make you feel good.

Treat Yourself Like A Friend

We will go out of our way and make sure that we take care of others. If we make plans with a friend, we will do the plan and we will not cancel the plans last minute. When we make promises to ourselves though, we don’t hold through to the commitments like we do with others.

Look at yourself as very important and apply the same rules that you would with a friend. If you say you are going to do something, do it. Do not just do this for friends but do this for yourself as well.

Stop acting like everyone is more important than you and learn to treat yourself with values and with love. This will help you to be more confident and help you to live your life the way that you want to live it.

How to Keep Your Promises

When you choose to keep your promises, you have to learn to make commitments that you can actually schedule in your heart. Consider that your heart is important and think about the promises that you make. If you want to get in better shape, make a plan to fit in a workout and eating healthy. When you do this, you will be healthier.

Tips for Keeping Promises

Think of a promise that you have made for yourself. Make sure you are making a specific problem and you are making a real commitment. Give yourself a certain amount of time each day or each week that you will set aside for your working out.

Tell someone else about the promises that you are making for yourself so that they can help you to be accountable.

Make sure that you fulfill your promises and that you make promises that will not let you fail. Start small and then make your promises a habit.

Treat Yourself Like You Are the Best

You are important and you need to treat yourself accordingly. Make an investment in your life that will help you to be healthy and strong. Bettering yourself is not selfish. If you don’t know where you should start, find a small goal to reach for and then start your journey slow.
