We have all encountered this.
Freeing yourself from somebody you value is a very difficult thing. It’s quite unfortunate that other times it’s necessary.
At times, you are aware of what transpired. Other times you feel as if life’s hard and there’s nothing you can do. However, if you’ve decided it’s already time to let go, do the following things:
- Cut communication
Before doing anything, you have to stop communicating with the person. This is very important.
You will never heal if you still talk with the person who caused you pain. Do away with anything that’s directly connected with them.
That’s not erasing the memory, but just training yourself on self-control. Being unable to contact them especially during your moments of weakness.
- Embrace your emotions
The worst mistake to do is to ignore your feelings and try hiding them if you want to heal you should take a different approach because the longer you do this, the worse you’ll get.
Embrace the pain. Face it and never run from it. Be with your feelings even though you might feel uncomfortable. The mind will eventually settle itself if you allow it to pay attention to the pain.
- Stop fantasizing
Refrain from fantasizing during your healing process. You may be tempted to do so and think that it will change or maybe work out. No. things won’t change and nothing will work out.
During this process, your brain is trying to keep you away from the pain gain. Embrace those feelings for you to maintain clarity. You should know this is just a natural part of the healing process.
- Forgive
The only way to heal your wounds is to practice forgiveness. The other individual is not always at fault, maybe it’s always you. Despite what the case might be, you just need to forgive. Regardless of what transpired, healing will take time. But if you focus on your well-being, you’ll heal your wound.
- Comprehend the grieving process
Just like the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship also signifies grief and loss. Feeling like you are living in denial and depression are normal stages that you will have to pass. And it’s essential to note that we all grieve differently.
- Ask for support
Never experience breakup alone although isolation is usually common. You don’t have to explain your breakup to everyone but you can reach out to someone who can support you.
- Take your time
Healing is a process just like grieving. Take your time to let it go. Never expect anything so that you don’t get disappointed. Allow yourself to experience the loss because its true nothing can be fixed quickly.
- Know what you want in a relationship
Imagine the kind of relationship you want. Ask yourself what went wrong in your past relationship, what worked and you will have a better picture of what you have to look forward to in the near future.
- Be grateful
Be positive as you start your day. Remind yourself only of the good things and do away with negativity. Be thankful for the lessons you learned, the good times you had and that you are just a step away from finding your perfect match!
